Arizona Athletic Grounds (All Turf) - Mesa, Arizona (Primary Complex)

Mesa Spring Training has emerged as Arizona’s premier high school and club team Spring Training event for both U.S. and Canadian teams and organizations. U.S. scholastic teams generally hail from the Northwest, Midwest or Northeast, as the favorable Arizona weather makes the location ideal for a full week of games and/or practices. Likewise, Mesa Spring Training is also the go-to event for Canadian club teams, with Canada’s top club programs attending year after year, and new organizations joining the mix each year!

THE MESA SPRING TRAINING DIFFERENCE

PRIMARY EVENT VENUE - ARIZONA ATHLETIC GROUNDS

Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) is a massive 320-acre sports complex in Mesa, Arizona. Now the largest amateur sports complex in North America, AAG features over 180 playing surfaces for several sports, events and activities. The ballpark portion of the venue features eight (8), all-synthetic-turf fields. Teams attending Mesa Spring Training after March 20 will have all on-field activities at Arizona Athletic Grounds. Teams attending prior to March 20 will have on-field activities at other top ballparks in Mesa.

ATTRACTIONS

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Arizona State Sun Devils brand is one of the most iconic brands in all of collegiate athletics. Teams attending Mesa Spring Training can arrange for an ASU campus tour, visit the ASU athletic facilities and/or catch a collegiate baseball or softball game. Arizona State University is home to 26 intercollegiate varsity sports, and Sun Devils have gone on to become household names on the MLB diamonds and NBA courts, play in the Super Bowl, win the Masters and compete for Olympic gold!

CACTUS LEAGUE - MLB SPRING TRAINING

Fifteen MLB teams and ten MLB stadiums are all within driving distance of Mesa Spring Training event venues! The Chicago Cubs play at the state-of-the-art Sloan Park in Mesa, while the A’s play at historic Hohokam Park, also in Mesa. Teams visiting the area for Mesa Spring Training can catch an MLB Spring Training game or tour one of the MLB facilities. The Spring Training environment in Arizona is an atmosphere like none other. Nothing compares to the unique and intimate ballparks of the Cactus League!

CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN AND COUNTLESS HIKING OPPORTUNITIES

Camelback Mountain, in nearby Phoenix, is just a short drive from Mesa Spring Training venues. Camelback is a premier and challenging hiking destination, famous for its 2,704 foot summit resembling a kneeling camel. This attraction offers 360 degree city views via exposed trails. Teams are encouraged to hike early in the morning or later in the day to avoid the midday Arizona heat. If hiking Camelback sounds too aggressive, check out “Hole in the Rock,” a geological attraction that offers shorter hikes, scenic views and one-of-a-kind team photo opportunities.

TOPGOLF

TopGolf is a popular evening stop for teams attending Mesa Spring Training. With three locations near Mesa (Scottdale, Glendale, Gilbert) there’s a TopGolf location in close proximity to every team hotel. Whether your athletes are aspiring golf pros or picking up a club for the very first time, TopGolf is fun for everyone. This makes TopGolf an ideal spot for a team dinner, event or family outing. Their giant targets make the game easy to score no matter your swing, and their high tech golf balls and TopTracer technology keep track of every shot, so your athletes, coaches and families can focus on the fun!

WORLD CLASS GOLF COURSES

The favorable Arizona weather and climate make the Mesa area a hotbed for golf in general. Nearby Scottsdale is a premier golf destination, with over 200 courses, renowned for desert landscapes and luxury experiences. Top famous courses include the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course (home of the WM Phoenix Open), the dramatic Troon North Golf Club (Monument and Pinnacle courses), and the scenic We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. For those teams looking for something much more low key, check out the Tiger Woods-inspired golf experience offered through PopStroke, a premium mini-golf concept!
